Abigail M. McNally, Ph.D.
Licensed Psychologist and Psychoanalyst
Dr. Abigail McNally is a licensed psychologist and psychoanalyst in private practice in Harvard Square (Cambridge, MA) with over fifteen years of clinical experience. Trained in psychodynamic, exposure-based, and dialectical-behavior models, she specializes in long-term, intensive treatments with individuals looking to make deep and lasting changes in the ways they approach love, work, and play. With a warm, compassionate, flexible, and integrative approach, Dr. McNally's work reflects utmost respect and humility for the complexity of the human condition. She works with adults, college students, adolescents, and couples.
In addition to a general focus on anxiety, depression, and self-esteem deficits, Dr. McNally maintains specialities in the treatment of PTSD/trauma, eating disorders, and disorders of attachment. She has formerly held Clinical and Training Directorships at residential and day treatment programs specializing in these areas. Dr. McNally is currently a Clinical Lecturer in Psychology at Harvard Medical School and on the Faculty of the Massachusetts Institute for Psychoanalysis (MIP).
Dr. McNally brings a unique frame of reference to her work. She is uncommonly trained in both deep, intrapsychic realms of therapeutic treatment (psychoanalysis), as well as more active and strategic therapeutic orientations. She brings a blend of these foci, tailoring each treatment to the unique needs of the individual.
