Dr. Abigail McNally is a licensed psychologist and psychoanalyst in private practice in Belmont Center with over twenty years of clinical experience. Trained in psychoanalytic/psychodynamic, trauma-informed, and dialectical-behavior models, she specializes in long-term, intensive treatments with individuals looking to make deep and lasting changes in the ways they approach love, work, and play. With a warm, compassionate, flexible, and integrative approach, Dr. McNally's work reflects utmost respect and humility for the complexity of the human condition. She works with adults, college students, and couples, and also provides consultation and supervision to professionals in the field.
In addition to a general focus on anxiety, depression, and self-esteem deficits, Dr. McNally maintains specialties in the treatment of PTSD/trauma, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, and disorders of attachment. She has formerly held Clinical and Training Directorships at residential and day treatment programs specializing in these areas. Dr. McNally is a former Clinical Instructor in Psychology at Harvard Medical School (BIDMC) and Smith School of Social Work, as well as a current faculty member and Supervising Analyst at the Massachusetts Institute for Psychoanalysis (MIP).
